Manufacturer of the Year – Enodis, USA

This prestigious award recognizes an EFC manufacturer member that has exhibited a commitment to, and demonstrated active support of EFC, our members’ activities & programs, and the electric foodservice industry. This manufacturer must also make a significant contribution to the industry and to the overall improvement of foodservice operations.

Enodis has been an integral part of the Electric Foodservice Council (EFC) from the very beginning, always promoting efficiency and the advantages of electricity.  They have partnered with the EFC member collaborative through EPRI resulting in new efficient product design and provided training for EFC members at their facilities on all their various product lines.  Enodis has been a partner with EFC both at NRA and other industry events throughout the history of the EFC.  They have also been a partner in initiatives that resulted in electric cooking equipment specifications used in numerous national restaurant chains.  Enodis has been an industry leader in energy saving and efficiency promotions.  They introduced EnerLogic™, a program that helps operators maximize profits by identifying energy-efficient and resource-conserving foodservice equipment. Enodis exceeded the qualifications for this award by creating numerous opportunities for Electric Foodservice Council member utilities to demonstrate their products, and supplying them with the products to directly demonstrate to their customers. Enodis is a prominent industry leader in innovation and efficiency as evidenced by recognition received from the Foodservice Industry.

Product Innovation of the Year – Cleveland Range/Convotherm

This distinctive award is given to a manufacturer who has introduced a unique or enhanced piece of electric foodservice equipment that advances the foodservice industry and improves productivity, efficiency, or solves other issues facing the foodservice industry.

Convotherm by Cleveland Range was introduced at the September 2005 NAFEM Show.  The Convotherm design is one of the most versatile appliances made for the American market.  It unites the benefits of the world’s most sophisticated ovens and steamers into one simple, foolproof oven that provides absolute operational freedom and superior food quality.  With more than 28 table-top or floor models to choose from, this product brings the ultimate cooking climate to any kitchen and only this manufacturer offers the world’s largest and most flexible range of this Combi Oven-Steamers.  The Convotherm product line has been tested and approved for the California Energy Rebate Program.  In the Performance Test Report by the FSTC dated January 2006, the report made the following observations:  “During the cooking tests, the oven demonstrated a heavy-load cooking-energy efficiency of 70%, among the highest tested by FSTC to date.  The oven also exhibited excellent cooking uniformity, as determined by applying the ice-load test.”

Utility Rep of the Year – Billy Griffis of Alabama Power Company

This very special award is to recognize outstanding utility representatives that have had a positive impact on their company’s foodservice program and the electric foodservice industry and to acknowledge their accomplishments and success throughout their careers.

Through his extensive knowledge in the Foodservice Industry with over 40 years of experience, Billy Griffis is unique because he has both Dealer and Utility experience.  This experience provides Billy with insights that have proven tremendously valuable in his work in the foodservice industry.  Billy has contributed back to the foodservice industry in his local area as well as statewide through active participation and leadership roles in Restaurant Association and other Industry related activities.  Since being with an Electric Utility, Billy has contributed immensely to the EFC Board and has held various offices including President of the EFC.  Because of previous work experience, Billy has been invaluable to the EEC Training programs.  Because Billy is a passionate promoter of electric cooking within the EFC membership, he played a key leadership role in two EFC collaborative initiatives with major restaurant chains resulting in both chains changing their fryer specifications from gas to electric. 

President’s Choice Award

This award is to recognize the exceptional foodservice individuals or companies that have positively affected the promotion of electric foodservice. The purpose of this award is also to recognize and acknowledge outstanding contributions these individuals or companies have made for the advancement of the foodservice industry through their involvement.

- Lincoln Impinger

The Lincoln Impinger provides for a combination of Air Impingement with Infrared Heat which reduces cook times for higher production of baked foods.  The Impinger is a convenient compact unit that is engineered for powerful heat capacity for fast production of baked items using two technologies, air impingement and infrared heat, in the kitchen or in the front of the house.  Similar to the more than 100,000 units already in use, the Impinger features continuous flow conveyor oven technology and easy–to-use digital controls for consistent cooking.  The Impinger is perfect for baked sandwiches, appetizers, personal pizzas – and much more.  Fast bake is possible through the combination of air impingement and infrared heating that provides operating temperatures from 250 degrees F.  Despite the high temperature capacity, this unit remains cook to the touch during operation because of Cool Skin technology.

Hall of Fame Award – Robert E. Hinson, CFSP of Hinson & Associates

This prestigious award is to recognize those outstanding individuals, companies or organizations that have made significant contributions to the development, growth, and advancement of the Electric Foodservice Council.

Only Five of these prestigious awards have ever been given in the eighteen year history of the Electric Foodservice Council since the organization was founded in 1987.

Robert Hinson has extensive knowledge and experience in the foodservice industry since 1988.  Robert’s employment with Duke Power from 1972-1999 took him from Distribution Engineering to Manager of the Food Service Program.  From 1990 until 1999, he was instrumental in forming the Food Service Program at Duke Power and was a leader on the development of their Advanced Cooking Technology Center which promoted electric cooking technologies.  Robert served as President of the Electric Foodservice Council from 1996 through 1999.  During his tenure, he led the council’s efforts with numerous presentations to NRA, NAFEM, NFSMI, MAFSI, ASFSA, FMI, and many others.  Robert is now the president of his own foodservice consulting company which formed in 2000.  He remains very active within the Foodservice Industry especially in the School/Institutional arena through his innovative Facility Assessment and Food Safety/Protection programs.  Robert was instrumental in establishing a partnership between Duke Energy and the School District of Greenville County SC to conduct extensive equipment testing for “Best in Class” evaluations.

The Council provides education, advertising, advocacy and promotional activities in cooperation with foodservice manufacturers and trade allies to advance the foodservice industry. We work to assure a consistent industry approach to foodservice and take advantage of available synergy’s by developing partnerships, and coordinating with other industry organizations. 



Every year the Electric Foodservice hosts their Excellence Breeds Excellence Awards Banquet, designed to recognize and acknowledge outstanding individuals and companies that have made significant contributions to the EFC mission and have improved or advanced the foodservice industry. The banquet was held October 30, 2006 at the Perdido Beach Resort in Orange Beach, Alabama.  This year’s recipients originate from such companies as Lincoln Foodservice Products Inc, Frymaster LLC, Cleveland Range LLC, Alabama Power, and Enodis USA.
